The basic discussion on the "tabula picta" question is, of course, who owns what. The degree of attention to details paid to materials, restoration, location of the thing, the "thinginess" itself, etc., is astonishing. There would not be a debate on this "tabula picta" question without those minutiae that look unnecessarily casuistic. They, however, make the difference.
Because what is at stake is too much: possession, property, ownership. You can also own your own things, be they painted tables, sculptures, books, or other forms of creative art. Imagine a way to discuss the tabula picta in light of the NFT’s and the regime of possession they present.
