The fifth session of Iberian Connections features Alberto Montaner Frutos, a Professor at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, and one of the foremost specialists in the field. He has suggested an article in English, combined with another one in Spanish, plus a series of readings to prepare for the discussion on this important subject. He will be addressing literary texts, but also Arabic, Greek, and Latin traditions that are instrumental to interpret the role of magic in the Early Modern period, and in particular in Siglo de Oro literature.
Esteban Crespo Jaramillo, graduate student at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and Renaissance Studies at Yale, will be moderating the session and serving as respondent.
