María Luz López Terrada is Senior Researcher (Investigadora científica) at the Instituto de Gestión de la Innovación y del Conocimiento (INGENIO (CSIC-UPV) in Valencia. She is the co-editor of Medical Cultures of the Early Modern Spanish Empire (Routledge: 2014), and has otherwise published extensively on her two main research areas: natural history (introduction of American plants into Europe) and social and cultural history of medicine in early modern Spain. The latter include work on hospitals, medical pluralism, representation of medicine in the Golden Age drama, and reconstructing the lives of irregular male and female healers.
