Irina A. Dumitrescu

At first glance, Irina Dumitrescu seems to be a mild-mannered medievalist at the University of Bonn, writing about cannibal poetics, violated tongues, tragic divas, and monastic whipping. In fact she is a lazy amateur ballerina, a spry but easily disappointed cook, a fierce knitter and a restless writer. Her career highlights include delivering a conference paper in interpretative dance, being included on the syllabus for a course on “Bad Immigrants,” and the publication of several indignant letters to the editor.
