Emily Colbert Cairns is an associate professor of Spanish at Salve Regina University. She specializes on gender and conversos in early modern Spain. Her books include Esther in Early Modern Iberia and the Sephardic Diaspora: Queen of the Conversas (Palgrave MacMillan 2017) and the co-edited volume Confined Women: The Walls of Female Space in Early Modern Spain (Hispanic Issues 2020). She is currently working on breastfeeding practices and a book project called Medieval Mamas: Surprisingly Relatable Nipple Tales and a co-edited volume entitled Early Modern Mothers. In addition, she is serving as a guest editor for a critical cluster on Premodern Food and Foodways with La Corónica: A Journal of Medieval Hispanic Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
