Carolin Schmitz is an historian of medicine exploring the interactions of patients and healers in early modern Spain. She completed her PhD at the University of Valencia in 2016, and her first monograph, Los enfermos en la España barroca (CSIC, 2018), was awarded the Premio Nacional de Edición Universitaria 2018. She is currently holding a Wellcome Trust Fellowship at the Department of History & Science, University of Cambridge, and will soon move on to join the “Medicine and the Making of Race” Project, led by Hannah Murphy at King’s College London.
